- Simone Bremner
- Work
| Simone is based in the southwest of England and began her career as a teacher. Later, as a mature student at Plymouth College of Art and Design, she studied ceramics but a masterclass at North Lands Creative Glass in Lybster, Scotland, stimulated her interest in glass. Since then, Simone has become a full-time glassmaker.
Her glass techniques transcend the blown form, using casting combined with hot pouring. Simone creates freestanding sculptures, in which the human form is represented through the subtle use of internal outlines. Her art explores the theme of transition both literally and conceptually, highlighting the passage of glass from one state into another. Simone’s new work, Floating People, comprises individual figures that explore the human condition and when these are grouped together they become a metaphor for human communities and relationships.
